Your journey to soft, smooth, hair-free skin starts with a free consultation, with no obligation. Come speak with our laser professionals for an evaluation of the facial area you wish to treat. We will evaluate your skin type and hair type to determine the best treatment plan. Together, we will devise a plan that works best for you.
The treatment process moving forward is as follows:
- Schedule your first appointment to begin treatment.
- Permanent facial hair removal may require multiple sessions to properly address all of the targeted hair follicles.
- You will schedule a series of treatments, as needed, a number of weeks apart.
- We will calibrate our laser based on where you are in the treatment process and what your skin currently requires.
- Both before and during each treatment session we use a cooling technology to minimize any pain or discomfort.
What to Do Before and after Laser Facial Hair Removal
Our team will provide you with detailed instructions for how to prepare and care for the area you are treating after your laser sessions. It is essential that you avoid waxing or plucking any hair in the treatment area at least two weeks prior to your first session, though you may continue shaving.
We may request that you avoid using specific beauty products or skincare treatments, especially in the 24-48 hours directly before treatment begins. This is so we can best assess your skin to administer the most effective treatment.
After each treatment session, it is important to continue refraining from plucking or waxing. Hair growth between sessions is normal as we work to eliminate any follicle that remains after each session. You may continue to shave. Following each session, we advise that you avoid direct sun exposure as your skin will be more sensitive during this time.
Short-Term Side Effects
It is common to experience mild, short-term side effects immediately following a treatment session. These side-effects will subside fairly quickly and are no cause for concern.
Our patients’ most frequently reported the side effects include a slight tingling or snapping sensation in the treatment area. You may notice redness in the area after treatment. Symptoms frequently dissipate within a matter of hours.
You can apply ice to the area for relief.
Is Treatment Painful?
Due to the cooling technology our APRNs or PAs administer both before and during each treatment session, you will feel minimal, if any, pain. Most patients report that treatment does not hurt at all and the most common feeling they experience is tingling or a snapping sensation. We administer cooling technology as needed, so at any point you may request that the APRN or PA conducting treatment provide more cooling to the area.
If you want to experience what it feels like, while we never offer free trials of treatments, we do offer a “test pulse”. Using the laser settings which (based upon your particular factors) we would be most likely to start your treatments with, you could experience 2 or 3 laser pulses. It would not possibly be effective at hair removal, and laser settings do increase, but it would at least give you a sense of how a treatment would feel. For a test pulse, you must still follow the pre-treatment instructions found here, because they are not only for safety, but also affect your skin’s sensitivity.
